The Poe Park Visitor Center, facing south

The Poe Park Visitor Center is a unique opportunity to present culture, build community, and provide an open, public space that can be a truly one of a kind building in The Bronx. Moreover, the Poe Park Visitor Center must be more than just a neighborhood building. Indeed, it will be venue with borough-wide appeal. As a Tourism Center for The Bronx, it is strategically located in an area of much activity, and provides a great place to promote cultural institutions, community groups, restaurants, and major tourist attractions, with plans to be an exciting stop along the route of The Bronx Trolley.

The Poe Park Visitor Center’s award winning architectural design by Toshiko Mori was Poe-inspired. A large north-facing window looking directly at the Cottage. This project works because of the immense popularity and draw of Edgar Allan Poe's literary heritage. Few other parks in the tri-state region have both a vibrant greenspace and a national landmark historic house museum located near convenient mass transit, car routes, and major commercial development.
