Webster Avenue and East 233rd Street 1890s

From its modest beginnings as a Dutch trading outpost at the beginning of the 17th century, New York City has had a rich and storied history. You can explore the city's past by visiting the history museums that are members of the New York City History Coalition, including The Bronx County Historical Society. The members of the coalition represent all five boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. Through exhibitions, collections of artifacts, educational outreach programs and adult and children's programming, all of these institutions bring the past to life.
